Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a child prodigy who began composing at age five and went on to write more than 600 works. Ludwig van Beethoven bridged the Classical and Romantic periods and continued composing even after losing his hearing.

Other important composers include Pyotr Tchaikovsky, who wrote The Nutcracker and Swan Lake; Frédéric Chopin, known for his beautiful piano music; and Clara Schumann, one of the most distinguished pianists and composers of the Romantic era. These composers came from different countries and time periods but all contributed to the rich tradition of Western classical music.
