Texas Standards Alignment
Free interactive tools mapped to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for grades K–8.
About the TEKS
Texas uses its own standards framework — the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) — rather than Common Core. Our tools cover the same fundamental concepts addressed by TEKS, organized by grade band and strand. The tables below show which SmartOnlineGames tools support each standard area. All tools are free, browser-based, and require no login — just click and start practicing.

Understanding Texas TEKS Standards
The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) define what students should learn in each grade and subject across Texas public schools. Unlike the Common Core standards used in most states, TEKS are developed independently by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the State Board of Education, covering math, English language arts and reading (ELAR), science, and social studies. TEKS are organized by grade level and include specific student expectations that describe what students should be able to do at each stage.
How SmartOnlineGames Supports TEKS
Each tool above is mapped to specific TEKS student expectations so Texas teachers and homeschooling families can confidently integrate them into lesson plans. Our math tools align with TEKS math process standards (mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and using tools strategically), while our science tools connect to the inquiry-based approach emphasized in the Texas science TEKS. All tools are free, require no login, and work on any device — making them ideal for both classroom instruction and at-home practice.
For families using these tools at home, the TEKS alignment information helps ensure that practice time targets the same skills being taught at school. Browse by grade level in the table above to find tools that match your child's current coursework, or explore our Learning Paths for structured multi-tool progressions that follow the TEKS scope and sequence.
Texas State Standards and SmartOnlineGames
Texas uses the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for all subjects, a comprehensive framework developed independently of the Common Core. TEKS emphasizes mathematical process standards — using problem solving, communication, connections, representation, and reasoning — alongside content knowledge.
Our tools support TEKS implementation by providing the visual representations and exploratory experiences that the mathematical process standards describe. When students use our Fraction Visualizer or Multiplication Array Builder, they are practicing representation and communication.
Supporting TEKS in the Classroom
Texas has one of the most detailed math curricula in the country. The alignment table above maps specific TEKS to our tools, helping Texas teachers find digital resources that match their scope and sequence precisely.
Texas also emphasizes STAAR readiness standards — the subset of TEKS most heavily assessed on state tests. Our tools address many of these readiness standards, providing visual practice and conceptual reinforcement for STAAR preparation.
